Costa Nord Cultural Centre Valldemossa

Valldemossa, where the stamp of composer Chopin and the coca de patata (a traditional cake made with potato flour) attract tens of thousands of visitors every year.   

The Costa Nord Cultural Centre in Valldemossa, is entering a period of renovation. If fourteen years ago it became part of the cultural horizon of local and foreign residents as well as tourists, it will be in 2014 when it is truly projected as a cultural, gastronomic and recreational bench mark.

The centre was financed by actor Michael Douglas in 2000, in 2003 it came to belong to the Govern Balear but has been in private hands since 2012. A program of activities has been designed to capture cultural tourists. Apart from the traditional guided tour – that includes a documentary in which Michal Douglas advertises the landscape values of the Serra de Tramuntana, and an audio-visual experience that places the visitor aboard a reproduction of the yacht belonging to Luis Salvador de Austria, during his maritime excursions around Mallorca, there will be a daily ball de bot exhibition (traditional Majorcan dancing), as well as the chance to taste some traditional Majorcan products and a restaurant offering a Majorcan buffet all year round. From June until the middle of September different nocturnal activities will take place from Monday to Saturday.

On Mondays a show and Majorcan BBQ; on Tuesdays it will be tapas night and flamenco show; Wednesdays an Argentinian BBQ with country music; on Thursdays a gastronomic menu accompanied with silent cinema, pianist and vocalist; on Fridays jazz music with a gastronomic menu and on Saturdays, opera and a gastronomic menu
