Cala Murta Beach is situated in a natural environment indisputable and overwhelming beauty, an idyllic place for hiking and staying there with your family away from the noise and totally isolated from the crowds that occur on the beaches of Mallorca in the high summer season with crystalline and bright turquoise waters in natural surroundings that belongs to a protected area.

THE BEACH

Cala Murta Beach fascinates for its scenic beauty and crystal clear water and it is located about 5 kilometers from urbanization of Formentor, on the road that connects Formentor beach with the lighthouse, you will find on the right of the road a wooden sign indicating “Cami de Cala Murta” and possesió (rural finca), which will serve as a point of reference and there is place without going on the road to park the car and begin the path to the beach on foot.

We must go this route, leaving on our right the Camp de la Mare de Deu de Formentor, a place for summer camps that belongs to the Rotger-Villalonga Foundation and the Bishopric of Mallorca. Pass the iron gate, through the side door with a chain by which you can spend walking and see the wooden huts and signs indicating the direction to the beach of Cala Murta, from here follow the path always paved over 20-30 minutes.

The surroundings are natural and protected, the typical Mediterranean Forest, and during the descent to the beach sure you will find some loose animals besides wild goats attending the creek in search of food, it is a natural place, unspoilt cove of beautiful forest landscape surrounded by cliffs in their margins.

You will always see boats in Cala Murta Beach as the marine and underwater conditions are excellent for anchoring in this sea inlet as it is very sheltered from the wind from the north. In fact there are a lot of boat excursions stopping there. The depth ranges from eight meters at two hectometers from the coast to four at one hectometer from the beach, and eleven in the entrance, on a rocky ground with seaweed. At 5.9 nautical miles there is Puerto de Pollensa.

Be careful, there is no lifeguard service in Cala Murta Beach. Act cautiously when no lifeguard is present or the service is not available and enjoy the beach without taking any unnecessary risks.

Concerning to children, Cala Murta is considered good for children of small age, but as always, take care.

Cala Murta Beach is a private area, respect all the area.
